Emma Watson

Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born to British parents Jacqueline Luesby, a lawyer, and Chris Watson, a teacher, in Paris, France. When she was five, she relocated to Oxfordshire, where she was a student at the Dragon School. Emma knew from the time she was six years old that she was going to be an actor. For several years she trained at the Oxford Stagecoach Theatre Arts branch in which she was taught dancing, singing, acting and many other things. She was a stagecoach actress and was the role of lead in various Stagecoach productions. Casting began for Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (192001) which was the film adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s bestselling novel. Emma was discovered by her Oxford theater teacher and introduced casting agents to Emma. After eight consistent auditions the producer David Heyman told Emma and fellow applicants, Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint that they were selected for the roles of the three leads: Hermione Granger, Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. Emma's first appearance on the screen was the release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone in 2001. The film broke records for opening-day and weekend sales and was the highest-grossing film in 2001. The film's performances and those of its young stars were highly praised by the critics. The Daily Telegraph, a British newspaper widely distributed, praised Emma's performance as "admirable." Emma received five awards for her role in the movie, including the Young Artist Award, for the Best Young Actress in an feature Film. Emma became famous after the success of the first film of the series. For the next ten years, she played the character as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone 2001, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets 2002, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban 2004 and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire 2005. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix 2007 and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince 2009, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1 (2010) and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 (2011). Emma was awarded two Critics' Choice Awards nominations from Broadcast Film Critics Association.
