Rachel Anne McAdams
Rachel Anne McAdams was born on November
17, 1978 in London (Ontario, Canada) to Sandra Kay (Gale), who works as a nurse
and Lance Frederick McAdams who is a truck driver/furniture mover. She is
Englishand is Welsh- -, Irishand Scottish. Rachel began acting when she was an
adult. At 13 she was performing in Shakespearean performances at summer theater
camp. After graduating, Rachel received a BFA degree from York University in
Theater. After her first appearance on TV in Disney's The Famous Jett Jackson
in 1998, Rachel starred in Canadian television's Slings and Arrows 2003. This
comedy-drama is about the struggle of Shakespearean theater groups. Rachel was
awarded the Gemini Award for her performance in 2003. Her breakout role in Mean
Girls (2004) as Regina George instantly landed her on the Hollywood's top list
of young actors. Following the film, she was cast alongside Ryan Gosling in The
Notebook (2004). The Notebook was a smash at the box office, it quickly became
the most watched romantic drama for the new generation of filmgoers. McAdams
had a meeting with Gosling during filming. They dated until mid-2007. McAdams
continued to show her versatility onscreen with the manic comedy Wedding
Crashers (2005), the thriller Red Eye (2005), and the holiday drama The Family
Stone (2005).McAdams then took on the world of independent films with Married
Life (2007), which debuted at Toronto Film Festival and also starred Pierce
Brosnan, Chris Cooper and Patricia Clarkson. McAdams appeared in The Lucky Ones
(2007) and State of Play (2008), respectively. She also played in The Time
Traveler's Wife(2009) and Robert Downey Jr. in Guy Ritchie's worldwide hit
Sherlock Holmes (2009). McAdams played the role of the confident producer in
Morning Glory (2010). McAdams also played Owen Wilson's romantic fiancee in
Midnight in Paris (2011). McAdams then returned to romantic drama territory
with The Vow (2012) with Channing Tatum. McAdams is also a part of Terrence
Malick in To the Wonder (2012) as well as Noomi Rapace plays Passion (2012) in
Brian De Palma’s thriller.
