Bruce Willis

Bruce Willis, actor and musician, is known for his witty and sharp-edged roles in action movies. In total, he's appeared in films that have earned over $2.5 billion dollars. Walter Bruce Willis, a actor from West Germany, was born in Idar–Oberstein, West Germany on March 19, 1955 to Marlene Kassel (from Carneys Point), and David Andrew Willis (from New Jersey), who lived at a military base in the United States. The family moved to the U.S. soon after he was born. Willis was raised in Penns Grove by his mother who worked in the bank, while his father, who was a welder, was a factory worker and welder. Willis began to develop an interest in the drama arts during high school, and was "discovered" while working in an establishment in New York City and then performed in a few off-Broadway productions. In one bar it was discovered that he was spotted by a casting director who liked his persona and was in need of a bartender for a small movie part. Willis was a part of countless auditions before landing the role in the popular romantic comedy, Moonlighting (1985), as David Addison. The sarcastic, wisecracking P.I. is one of the highlights of his career. His sarcastic and wisecracking P.I. is often regarded as a trial run for his character John McClane, the hardboiled NYC detective in Die Hard (1988), in which Willis fight a group of ruthless international thieves at a Los Angeles skyscraper. In Die Hard 2 (1990), he reprised the character. The group of rebellious Special Forces soldiers is trying to return a corrupt South American general. They are located in Washington's Dulles International Airport. The success of the film at the box office prompted an additional sequel Die Hard with a Vengeance (1995), this time with co-star Samuel L. Jackson as an unrepentant Harlem shop owner who has been sucked into helping McClane during a terrorist bombing campaign on a sweltering day in New York.
