Dolly Rebecca Parton

Dolly Rebecca Parton was created on the 19th of January, 1946, in Pittman Center (Tennessee). She was born to Avie Lee Parton and Robert Lee Parton in Sevierville. Parton is a homewife and Parton is a farmer of the tobacco. When she was 12, she was appearing on Knoxville TV and at 13, she had already begun recording for an independent label and performing on the Grand Ole Opry. She graduated high school in 1964 and relocated to Nashville to begin her country-singing journey. Carl Dean, an asphalt-paving businessman, fell in love with her and they got married on May 30 June, 1966. Porter Wagoner saw her singing and arranged for her to perform on The Porter Wagoner Show (1961). She remained on the show for seven years. Their duets became well-known and she was invited to perform with him at the Grand Ole Opry. When her 1970 hit "Joshua" hit the top spot, her popularity was so great that she was unable to match the fame of his. In 1974, she was on her own and recorded duets alongside the singer. She quit him to pursue her own career in 1974. Dolly gained immense popularity as a songwriter/singer. Dolly won numerous Country Music Association awards (1968 1970, 1970 and 1971, 1975, and 1976). Dolly got her first Grammy award in 1977 for Best Female Country Vocal Performance. Dolly made her film debut in 9 to 5 in the year 1980. She received nominations for an Oscar for the song that was the title in addition to Grammy Awards 2/3: Best Country Song and Best Female Country Vocal Performance. Her most memorable performances were in The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas (1982) and Rhinestone (1984) in which she sang "Tennessee Homesick Blues". Dolly Parton Enterprises is her media empire, worth $100 million. In 1986, she launched Dollywood which is a Tennessee theme park in Pigeon Forge. This was to celebrate her Smoky Mountain upbringing. She starred as herself on Dolly, the Dolly (1987) TV series. In the episode "Trio", she won the Best Country Performance Duo or Group with Vocals Grammy in 1988.
